Carmel Cheerleading Attendance Policy     

Being on any cheerleading squad at Carmel High School requires commitment and sacrifice.  Therefore, each cheerleader is expected to attend ALL practice sessions and games.  Each coach will hand out a game and practice schedule at their very first meeting, which is why each cheerleader is expected to schedule doctor appointments, work schedules, etcetera accordingly.  When a practice session or game needs to be missed, please refer to the attendance policy explained below.

Missing a Practice:

Beginning August 20^th, 2008, all practices are mandatory with very few exceptions!!  If a practice must be missed, your coach must receive a phone call (not an email, text message, telegram, or some form of telepathy) before practice begins from the cheerleader (not their parents, friends, boyfriends, siblings, or even pets).  If your coach receives a phone call from you with a valid excuse as to why practice must be missed, that absence will be considered an “excused absence.”  If your coach does not receive a phone call from you, that absence will be considered an “unexcused absence.”  3 unexcused absences = removal from the team!

Missing a Game:

All games are mandatory with very few exceptions!  Missing a game without a valid excuse will result in being benched for the following game.  Missing more than 1 game without a valid excuse each time will result in removal from the team.

Arriving Late to a Practice:

Arriving late to a practice is understandable if a legitimate reason is provided.  If you will be late for any reason a phone call from you is required before the start of that practice.  3 lates = 1 unexcused absence.

Arriving Late to a Game:

Don’t.  1 late = 1 unexcused absence.
